The Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) on Paradise Road is the biggest venue in the city and the home of CES and most mega-shows. It sits a block east of the Strip, not on it, so the hotels that work best for a convention aren't always the famous ones — they're the ones near a Monorail stop or a short walk from the halls.
Westgate is the closest hotel to the LVCC, connected by its own walkway, and the Las Vegas Hilton sits right beside it. If your show is at the LVCC and you want the shortest possible morning walk, these two are the pick — you're at the floor in minutes without a car.
The north-Strip resorts — Wynn, Encore, and Resorts World — are a short ride from the LVCC and near the Monorail line. The Monorail is the key to a convention stay: it runs behind the east-side Strip hotels from the Convention Center station down to MGM Grand, skipping traffic entirely during a big show. A room near a Monorail stop beats a fancier room stuck in show-week gridlock.
Every hotel along the Monorail — the Venetian, Harrah's, the Flamingo, Bally's, MGM Grand — is a reasonable LVCC base because the train drops you at the Convention Center door. If you want to stay in the center of the Strip and still commute easily to the halls, pick a hotel with a Monorail station and buy a multi-day pass.
Convention weeks are the most expensive, most sold-out weeks of the year — CES in early January fills the city, and rates spike months ahead. Book as soon as your dates are set.
